I just love Kurara. The moment she stepped on stage I can feel her energy, she is fun, beautiful and intelligent. She also bagged the Best in National Costume award with her kick-butt Samurai costume.

I think it also helped that there was a Puerto Rican judge who has a similar personality to the Miss Puerto Rico, very envious, so it might have made her feel proud to have another Puerto Rican with the title

Kurara should have won, she is gorgeous, intelligent and has a very attractive personality. The other girl who won, Miss Puerto Rico, doesn't even speak english and when you hear her in spanish, you know that it's better that she doesn't, she has nothing to say, she can't elaborate on anything, it's just like a picking any airhead from a high school and making her miss universe, it's very obvious that no matter how trained she was, you can't fake intelligence, and her look is so artificial.

she answered very well. only the translator did not catch up what she really want to say. she is the miss universe of 2006. puerto rico is only a runner up.

that might be it too, but if you look at it philosophically, her answer is so right. the question was about HUMANITY and the way she answered it was in a philosopical way so if the judges were more intelligent rather than people like seth green or santino rice, she would have won.
